• Combining Roots vs. Combining Entire Dreadlock
We’re going to be discussing and training for both approaches within this course.
• Combining Roots without crocheting
Combining ONLY the roots is very easy and only requires a bit of common sense. Very easy – basic skills – can be done with just about any hair texture or maturity. Bring two dreadlocks together and slide a bead to hold them together for several months – or – pull one dreadlock through the root of the other and allow them to grow out together. Combining roots only will result in a “congo” that grows out as one dreadlock with two or more ends.
• Combining Roots with Crochet Method
This is how we do it 98% of the time. It’s very similar to root maintenance only your crocheting the root of two dreadlocks together.
• Combining Entire Dreadlocks & Florida Wicks
The best case scenario for full length combining is to work with young loose malleable dreadlocks – but 9 times out of 10 I avoid doing full length on mature dreadlocks. However, it can be done. I would also approach Florida Wicks in a similar way.
