• Avoid “microlink” extensions – the “plugs” are just a hassle to work with
• Our preference is a “weft” or “sew in” set of extensions. The long weft can be cut at any location to adjust the thickness of the extension you’re planning to make.
• 100% natural virgin hair is ideal if you want to do any type of color processing.
• If possible, avoiding “silky” or “tangle free” hair is ideal, however I’ve worked with this hair before and sometimes it’s fine. You’re trying to create knots, therefore a “silky / tangle free” type of hair can be more stubborn to work with and not hold as long when attached to your natural hair.
• Remy hair is not necessary. Its completely irrelevant for our purpose since the hair will be knotted in all directions anyways.
• If you want a color gradient seek a color transition like the picture above and avoid the “piano key” color mixture.
• If you have long natural hair with a color gradient you’ll want to aim to match the color somewhere between the middle and tip of your natural hair – do not color match to your roots unless your hair is short.
• Alternatively you might want to consider synthetic extensions at a much lower price point.
